Week in Italy , march 4th-10th 2024






Goal of the italian mobility is an attempt to come to an end with the lesson plans, tryng different ways of promoting reading among the students. We have chosen the novel The Klimt´s model by the italian writer Gabriele Dadati. All the students have previously read the novel in a traditional way, so they know the story already. During the mobility week, split into groups of mixed nationalities they discuss the content and come up with suggestions of possible lessons to be voted by all the students, those envolved or not envolved in the previous mobilities. The Klimt´s model is also the starting point of a drama experience: the students not previously envolved in the mobility have written a play from scratch and will act their final play on Thursday 7th.

Monday 4th

All partecipants gather at Liceo Gioia to meet the host families and spend some time with them.

Tuesday 5th

The whole group meet at school and join the teacher A.P. in a funny team building activity at the gym and throughout the city of Piacenza. Back to school, the teachers and the students take part in a job shadowing experience in different classes.

in the afternoon it´s time to discover Piacenza: the italian students take their peers to a guided tour and explain the main buildings and monuments.

Wednesday 6th

The whole morning is spent in getting the project-work done, leaving the afternoon free for the itlin students to take their European guests to visit Milan.

Thursday 7th

Now its time to focus on different ways of fruition of a novel:

1.     Imagining a graphic novel from the text: students from a class share their past experience and show their products, a short movie and a graphic novel.

2.     Searching for the painting: the portrait behind the novel and its backgroud;

3.     Re-writing a novel and acting it: Portrait of a lady (maybe) is adapted and played by students for students. All together at the Gioia Theatre, a lovely little theatre set in an ancient church.

Friday 8th

We all visit the historical public library: how it works how it is run, what it is kept inside, with a specific exposition of ancient manuscripts by the librarians for us.

Meanwhile the mayor and her councilors are waiting for us at the City Hall: the mayor, the concilors and the school principal greet and welcome the European students.

In the afternoon the students attend the project-work conclusion and share their results.

Saturday 9th

Meet the author: Gabriele Dadati explains the genesis of his novel and replies to the students´ questions.

Goodbye party.

  Vienna Project Week Erasmus+ Book Club   In December 2022, the kick-off of the Erasmus+ project titled "European Book Club" took place at our school, BRG14 Linzerstraße, in Vienna. This exchange program is funded by the European Union. During this week, 24 Austrian students hosted 24 guest students from Finland, Italy, and Sweden. Together, they worked towards the common goal of designing a European curriculum for literature, which will be used to teach literature in European schools in the future.   During the mornings team-building activities various workshops on different aspects of literature and work on the curriculum in small groups were on the agenda. Our second meeting in Stockholm     The planning for the visit started early, where we all contributed with ideas and suggestions on how we could make this visit as good as possible for everyone. When the time came, there was a schedule with activities planned for the whole week. This included workshops, guided tours, and other fun activities.  The book we chose to work with was Cirkeln ( The Circle ) by Mats Strandberg and Sara Bergmark Elfgren. We managed to arrange an author visit with Sara, which was highly appreciated. Three students volunteered to interview Sara with questions that the whole group had helped put together. The interview was in English, so that everyone could participate and understand what was being said. In addition to the author visit, we worked with the book in various ways, discussing it orally and writing questions about it. After the author's visit, a movie night was organized for everyone in the auditorium, where we watched a Swedish movie called "
