Lesson 1 – Motivation
1. Minimize
negative thoughts on reading

• Motivate
students to ask questions about reading

Lesson 2 –
How to read
1. Make sure
everybody knows that people read/study differently
2. Introduce
different reading methods, for example:
• “normal”
reading
• Listening
to audiobook
• Listening
to the audiobook and reading at the same time
• Listening
to music without lyrics while reading (show playlists and
Recommendation)
•
Organize/plan your reading (start early and show how to organize reading)
3.
Dialog/interview with former student about their reading methods
4. Read on
your own in class (not out loud because that stresses people and then
reading will
be more unpleasant)
5. Finding
your own reading atmosphere
Lesson 3 –
How to remember
1.
Highlighting/writing down keywords (practice in class with the students)
2. Writing a
short summary about what you just read
3. Reread
parts that you did not understand and google them (write them down)
4. Introduce
mind maps to students
5.
Playing/Creating games to make remembering more fun/memorize it better for

Lesson 4 -
What to read
1.
The teacher
gives the class an introduction of different genres.
2.
Each student
writes their favorite genre on a piece of paper and then the teacher writes the most popular
genres on the board and divides the class into groups based on their favorite genre.
3.
In each group
people recommend their favorite books of that genre.
Lesson 5 -
Choose and find your book
1.
Search for a
book that is similar to your favorite shows or movies.
2.
Research the genre
and book reviews.

Using apps
like “goodreads” or “tiktok” to find a book for yourself.
3.
Search for
the book from your school library, city’s library or online for example.
Lesson 6 -
Start your reading
1.
Present the
book of choice and the reason why you chose it.
2.
Read the
first chapter of your book in class alone.
3.
Discuss what
happened in the book within your group
4.
Discuss
and decide whether you want to continue the book.
Lesson 7 – The first milestone
1.
If
yes, at 25% of the book should be read by now.
2.
Discuss
the read chapters, recapping them, and determine, if the students understood
the book, and/or if they had problems reading it.

If
students have problems, tell them to the teachers, which will try to help you.
·
If
many students have problems, it should be collectively decided whether this
book should be continued or not.
3.
Students
will be given a reading assignment (negotiable) optionally could be started in
class. It should be read quietly, not loudly.
Lesson 8 – Opinions and predictions
1.
Ideally,
half of the book should be read.
2.
Talk
about the characters of the book, students will be writing what least or
favorite character they had, what annoys students about them, their development
throughout the book, and what they think is the fate of the characters later in
the book.
3.
Students
will write their opinions down. They will be kept till the end of the book
where they will be compared to the actual outcome.
Lesson 9 – Personalized future experiences
1.
Ideally,
75% – 80% of the book should be read by now.
2.
Students
make suggestions how the book ends, if the characters survive (in action books)
or guess their remaining fate. Write down an alternate ending (how they would
like the book to end).
3.
Discuss,
if they were to play one of the characters in the book, what would students
have done differently to prevent mistakes, and, concerning the current
situation in the book, what would them do differently to prevent future
mistakes.
Lesson 10 -
Planning
1.
By this time the book should be finished
2.
Find a location (for example the school gym) and decide how to decorate it.

Everyone can bring food
and decorations
3.
Budget: Money for food and decorations
4.
Decide the role of
everyone: who takes care of what?
5.
Decide dress code for everyone: what clothes/outfits? for example:

Announce party on school website and/or social media.
Lesson 11 - Organisation
1.
Divide students into 4 groups (Food/Drink, Clothes, Decorations and Music)
2.
Start preparing everything (Preparation usually takes a while, so we dedicate
an entire lesson to it)

like banners etc.
Lesson 12 - THE PARTY
ITSELF
1.
Arrive at location to start preparations there

start music, decorate
halls, put up the food buffet etc.
